About Me
Hi, and thanks for dropping in! I’m Jodie, a teacher, writer, and proud mum of a really great kid, Hamish. We live in the beautiful sunny city of Perth, Western Australia with our two fur babies, George, our lovable Labrador, and Maggie the cat. Stay tuned for my next book project featuring George (well, in a way...!)
I’ve spent the last seven years working as a school teacher, specialising in Early Childhood Education. I'm currently teaching Year 1 and 2 EAL/D students in an Intensive English Centre; a very humbling and blessed position to have. It is truly a joy to come to 'work' every day.
I have a Graduate Diploma of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications (Media Analysis and Production) with sub-majors in Television, Photographic and Radio Journalism. Combined with a background in debating and public speaking, I have always been interested in words and stories. I’m incredibly passionate about helping young children find their voice through reading, writing, and storytelling. Outside of school hours, I also tutor private students to support their literacy enrichment. There's nothing quite like seeing a child's confidence grow, one word at a time.
Right now, I'm especially excited to be preparing for the release of my very first book, Wibbly Wobbly Tooth! It’s been a true labour of love, inspired by the curious, wobbly-toothed little humans I get to work with every day.
At home, life is just as full. When I'm not 'Uber-mumming' my son to footy, basketball or soccer training and games, I can be found baking (often 'procrasta-baking', resulting in dozens and dozens of cookies, muffins, slices and cakes all at one time and very little else accomplished!), writing, or curled up watching a good streaming series.
Before stepping into the classroom, I had a whole other chapter in the corporate world, working across executive management and academic recruitment, sales, coaching, and consulting. These days though you’ll find me much happier surrounded by picture books, my laptop and the wide-eyed wonder of my beautiful little early learners.

Thanks for stopping by, I’m so glad you’re here.
